What does HPGS stand for?

HPGS are the initials for our group: Hull Paranormal Ghost Society.

HPGS is an organisation which is dedicated to answering one of life's ultimate questions- do ghosts exist?

HPGS combines both pioneering research methods, and other well known experiments to carry out research at various locations around Kingston Upon Hull & Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

 HPGS will then issue a full report to evaluate & assess all finding, then place them on the website for people worldwide to view & post their own opinions.

HPGS unite with other groups in all areas worldwide to work together to find the prove what is needed.

What do you do when you are on a investigation?

The whole process takes a little time, you cant just walk into a house or building & expect the ghost/s to pop out. First we sit down with our client & question them about the experiences that have occurred.

Next we go through what will happen & what vigils we will be doing. After we feel happy & our client is happy then we start to set up the equipment. We begin by doing baseline tests if necessary. We will answer any questions which our client may have, throughout the investigation.

Throughout the night we do various vigils while filming to capture anything on film. Once enough data has been collected, if any, & the full team agree to end the investigation, we pack up & thank our client. We spend as much time as we need analyzing the findings before placing them on the website.

Before & after the investigations, a protection ceremony is always carried out. A follow up interview will be conducted if necessary & a courtesy call will be made to our client to see if everything is ok in the following week after the investigation.

 What are ghosts?

There are many theories but the most common that is believed is that a spirit is the soul of a deceased person who had some kind of unfinished business or who simply refuses to acknowledge the fact that they have died.

What kinds of ghosts are there?

There are several different types of ghosts:

Orbs or Ghost Lights
Generally appearing in many spirit photographs, these are mysterious lights, orbs or dabs of light.

Shadow ghosts
Ghosts that appear as a dark shadow.

Apparitions
Sometimes solid or can be transparent human form, usually dressed in clothing of the period from which they came.

Poltergeist
A fast moving human spirit that usually makes its presence with noises, knockings, and quick manifestations of psychic energy. Poltergeists can have a duration of days, months, or years. They can also appear for minutes and then they are gone.

Crisis Apparition
A ghost that appears to loved ones to warn them of coming dangers.

Residual Haunting's
A recording of an event from a past time played back as if real and in the present day. These ghosts cannot interact or change their behaviour.

This is a question which is based mainly on belief. A number of people will say yes, a number of people will say no. Some people even say, 'I don't know!' The correct answer is, nobody knows.

There is no evidence to suggest that ghosts DO exist, however there is no evidence to suggest that ghosts DON’T exist.

can you prove that ghosts exist?

Evidence has been collected over the years in forms of photographs, video’s, & eyewitness statements. All of this evidence points to the fact that something paranormal is happening but it can not be proven that it is the spirit of a deceased person.

It is possible that in the future as evidence mounts together, HPGS along with others groups united together, will find the prove that everyone is looking for.

A person that investigates any type of paranormal activity, usually trying to prove or disprove using certain types of equipment such as Digital camera‘s, camcorder‘s, Dowsing rods, thermometer’s to record temperature changes & so on.

There are many types of investigating equipment possible to carry out an investigation.

Read & study on the topic, use your local library to read books. Look up local investigation teams who can help give you knowledge & seek out teams which are taking new Investigators.

Some groups will willingly take you along to get the feel of being an Investigator. The internet is also a good place to visit other groups sites & look up tips & information.

Will a ghost follow me home?

It is possible but it is very rare for it to happen.

Are ghosts good or evil?

Spirit energy should be much like living people, some are good & some are bad. If a ghost is nothing more than the residue energy of those what once lived it would stand to reason that if the living person was good, the spirit would also be good.

We all know that there are some evil people in the world & when they die we can also assume that their spirits would be evil..
Why do ghosts appear?

No one knows for sure why ghosts appear or in what form they will appear. Sometimes spirit energy appears as a white glow (orb), a mist, a cold spot, a breeze, or as a full blown figure (apparition).

Have you ever seen a ghost?

We have witnessed things that we can't explain. We can't say positively if they were ghosts but we can say they were of a paranormal nature meaning there was not a logical explanation for what we witnessed.

Most investigation groups only carry out investigations at night because it is more quiet & peoples minds are more relaxed therefore more receptive, however ghosts appear or make their presence known anytime.

The Paranormal is defined as something happening which cannot be explained logically & believed to be related to ghosts or other strange Apparitions. It covers many fields also such as UFO's & so on.

It is a growing field of study as the interest increases & more people are getting fascinated in finding out if things are really out there or not.

It can take from one investigation to several, each individual case is different so therefore some locations need several visits then others.

Will ghosts hurt you?

Most ghosts should not to be feared. There is always the story of that rare haunting where an individual has been injured or harmed in some way. This type of violent paranormal is most often associated with poltergeist energy.

The term poltergeist is made up of two old German words. Polter means “noisy” & the second half geist means, “ghost/spirit”. A poltergeist is usually more malicious & destructive than ghosts.

Traditional poltergeists activities are thumping & banging, moving of objects & stone throwing. A Poltergeist is a very nasty form of energy/Spirit & can cause great pain & suffering.

What is the difference between a ghost & a poltergeist?

There are many theories on this question.

Poltergeists are known to be heard but not seen, where-as ghosts are seen but seldom heard.

Some theories are that poltergeists are actually some sort of psychic manifestation of a very troubled living person whereas a ghost is normally defined as the returning spirit of a deceased person.

In our opinion, a Poltergeist is a TYPE of Ghost, After all it is known "Poltergeist" itself means "Noisy Ghost".

Do a lot of people believe in ghosts?

Yes, more then what people would imagine. Many people still laugh & think what aload of rubbish but there are more & more people becoming fascinated to find out if there is really something out there.

I think that a person of average intelligence & who has an open mind would find it difficult to dismiss the abundance of evidence & witness sightings that have been collected over the years.

As with most endeavors there will always be the hardcore sceptics that will never believe until they come face to face with paranormal phenomena.

What do I do if i think I have a ghost haunting my house?

Most Ghosts are not harmful however if you feel uneasy for any reason, stay calm & contact a local Paranormal InvestigationTeam.
