#017 Druid's Temple.

HISTORY:-
The Druid's Temple is a 19th century folly near Masham, in North Yorkshire. In 1809 William Danby, a local philanthropist, devised the structures as a means of creating employment in the local area. History doesn't record what the workers thought of the strange structures they were employed to build!The build was very labour intensive and the final folly was designed to look something like Stonehenge.
INVESTIGATION:
We arrived at this location around 11pm after the long drive from Kingston Upon Hull. While having difficulty in finding this location around the village of Ilton, in the middle of nowhere down single narrow country roads, we bumped into a lone policeman driving who stopped & after some funny looks & questions, kindly showed us the way!!
After walking through the dark, eery forest, we came upon Druids Temple, What a fantastic location...We entered the stone formations after doing our protection statements & called out for any spirits to come forward. We walked around the site & after witnessing the EMF meter going off, we headed towards the back of the temple into a small cave.
We sat around on some large rocks & again began to call out....We experienced some tapping noises coming from the entrance but after investigation we think that the tapping noises where in fact drips of water from the roof of the cave.
We continued to call out trying musical enticement & asking for knocks & taps but we didn't experience any positive activity except getting a responce from the EMF meter once again. We decided at this stage to seperate & call out alone. Sue & Sara went off to the entrance of the temple, Laura stayed in the cave, Craig went middle of the temple & I went on top of a tall rock formation overlooking the full temple.
After calling out for a good 10 mins, we gathered back around near the cave entrance to share our experiences.....Sue & Sara felt a presence but nothing else, Laura was fine in the cave with no activity & I saw what appeared to be a dark shadow of something moving near the entrance but couldn't verify the surce due to Sue & Sara being not that far away from that area.
After a small rest break, we decided to stand on a stone formation what appeared to be a table, linking hands & calling out but again with no positive activity experienced...We tried asking for a breeze of wind to circle around us because there was not a breath of wind...calm as can be!!
We tried going back into the cave & just sitting in silence to see if anything happened but again, nothing..... We didn't want to give up just yet, so we headed to the centre of the temple & stood around this circular tall rock formation with both hands flat on the rock surface. Whle calling out, I felt what was like an insect crawling on my right hand but there was nothing there!! we tried linking hands & calling out but we didn't feel anything or witness anything!!
We decided to try one final vigil before we left, around th edge of the temple were 4 alcove like rock formations so we each entered an alcove & called out. The alcoves were far enough apart that by talking quietly, we couldn't hear each other. I asked for any spirits to try communicate with me or try to show themselves to the girls, fasinating...shortly afterwards Sue shouted across to me saying that she had to leave her alcove because she had witnessed a figure dressed in a white gown standing next to her....Sue hurried across to my alcove just as Craig came across saying that Sara & Laura were getting freaked out!!
I called for everyone to come togeather to discuss there experiences...it was this moment in time that Sara came across pale, speechless & slightly shaken.Her eyes were wide open, staring with a blank expression as if she was in a trance. We quickly moved her out of the temple & sat her down on a rock.
At this stage, it ws still calm as anything but as we got up to leave a few minutes later, The wind instantly (with no build up) turned into storm like winds which nearly blow us off our feet....Maybe just a natural cause in weather but it did make us on edge with the sudden change in atmosphere....
After closing down, we headed for "C KING 1" & set off on the long journey home. 20 minutes into the journey Sara had got a pen & started writing something on her hand, Craig read out that she had witnessed a figure wearing a black gown with red crosses on it...
Who were these figures dressed in gowns which had being experienced by two different investigators??
Research will be done to conclude what both sightings where which Sue & Sara witnessed....updates will be placed on this write up as appropiate!!
We may return here again in the future to discover if anything paranormal is really here......
